Neighbourhood action co-ordinators
Unlock your community’s potential
Since 2022, the Neighbourhood Action Co-ordinator Programme has placed a dedicated co-ordinator in specific areas of the city to organise activities that take action on local priorities and improve those local areas. They co-ordinate projects with local communities, council services, partners and ward councillors.
What neighbourhood action co-ordinators do
Neighbourhood action co-ordinators help residents and local organisations to work together in line with the local ward plan. Activities include supporting community groups to access funding, develop activities, or co-ordinate environmental clear ups.
Neighbourhood action co-ordinators:
- develop community-led action plans based on local priorities
- empower communities to take action to improve their neighbourhoods
- connect residents and council services
- co-ordinate action across services and communities to benefit local areas
Their work focuses on:
- the local environment, for example fly tipping and litter
- community safety, for example neighbourhood nuisance such as vandalism and street drinking
- quality of life, for example improving access to green spaces and improving local pride
For an example of the difference that our co-ordinators make, watch the video about our Billesley Fire Station mural project in 2023.
